My life as an environmental educator

Hey all, here are some photos of my first two programs at the J.N. Ding Darling NWR on Sanibel, FL, where I'm the env. ed. intern. The first one is of the Bailey Tract birding tour where I take bird-friendly people out to see what we can find in this freshwater ecosystem. The second photo is of my "Basic Birding Skills" program. There were 5 of us on the Baily Tract tour before the rain drove us away, and no one showed up to the basic birding skills except a soggy Yellow-crowned Night Heron who stood stoically in the rain waiting for a crab to come out of its tunnel. But, for a rainy first day of the year, it wasn't a bad bird day! Lots of Gray Catbirds meowing in the bushes, Spoonbills and White Pelicans all over the refuge and tons of Myrtle Warblers in the Wax Myrtle bushes.

Happy New Year Lists!!!

Left: Checking out some Mottled Ducks.

Right: Testing out some "identiflyers" and setting out the bird anatomy poster and bird books.
